Funding worth up to £100,000 is being made available to charities to help them ensure they are safeguarding the data of staff, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
The funding is being made available through data protection body the DPO Centre to provide charities with access to its data protection consultancy services at a reduced rate of 80%.
The Centre has set aside £100,000 for the scheme and is offering funding worth up to £10,000 for each successful charity that applies.
Successful applicants will gain support in reviewing their data protection compliance, drafting policy, reviewing data sharing and processing agreements and training for staff and volunteers.
“The key purpose of the fund is to provide charities and not-for-profits (NFP) organisations with access to our data protection consultancy services, but at a rate reduced of 80%,” said the Centre.
“This therefore enables them to focus their valuable financial resources on their core purpose, but still gain access the high level of expertise that we provide.”
Applications for the DPO Centre Charity and Community Fund need to be submitted by 18 November.
